Client: Merton Council
Creative: 4 minute doc animation (+12 minute ‘making of’ film)
Objectives
Merton Council came to Bold Creative to create an engaging and innovative solution to tackle the worrying rise in youth homelessness within the borough.
The brief was straightforward; we were to create awareness and highlight the consequences of leaving home too young.
Strategy
Bold Creative facilitated a forum based on a diverse group of BME young people from South London, which enabled them to come together, discuss and educate each other on the consequences of leaving home early.
Mentored by Bold Creative, the young people set out to discover the truth about being homeless in the Merton area.
Creative Output
An engaging 4 minute animated documentary narrated by the young people at the heart of the issue, who candidly shared their experiences and the cold reality of life on their own.
The culmination of the project was a local screening arranged by Bold Creative to showcase the film to over 300 target young people, the local media and local Councillors.
...”when I first moved in it was scary, I didn’t know anyone, I didn’t trust anyone. I would put things up against my door…”
