Creative: Children’s dedicated website
Objectives
Bart’s is the first point of contact for some of the sickest and seriously injured children in the London area. The BLT approached Bold Creative to design and build a dedicated Children’s website to help expel the myths and anxiety that ill children may feel going into hospital for treatment or even extended stays on the wards.
Strategy
To fulfil the brief Bold Creative proposed a website ‘full of experiences’ for the children admitted for treatment. Based on experience within the child and health sector, Bold engaged in a series of interactive and creative workshops. The aim was to investigate all the areas of youth stress and fear and use these direct insights and experiences to educate other children in a fun, comforting and inclusive way.
Output
The website designed by Bold features real-life experiences of the children in the form of video diaries and animated documentaries which highlighted life on the ward. Topics ranged from why children shouldn’t be scared of needles and medical procedures, through to the experience of coming into A&E.
Bold hosted a launch event in conjunction with the BLT attended by the children, families, staff, local health and educational organisations, a celebrity host and local media.
Wider Results
The warm and engaging website is continually used by staff and families to support the children throughout their stay in hospital.
